Ahaz the King
Photoshop
April 2009

This was created for a role playing card game using Photoshop. The deadline was extremely tight and the only real information given about this assignment was a short blurb about the historical character.

Ahaz was a Biblical king who sacrificed a few of his children by burning them alive. Great guy! His nation was being threatend by surrounding nations so he made a few treaties and sent all of his royal treasures to secure the deals. Ultimately his allies killed what remained of his family. Ahaz, stripped of all royal vestiges, was eventually buried in a commoner's tomb.

I tried to show a character who was selling his soul. His treasures now gone while he still reignied as king. The mood is cold and empty and dark. The only royal vestige left is the crown itself.

Thanks for your thoughts.
